Izmir Institute of Technology (IZTECH) is one of the state universities in Turkey and one that was established in 1992 with a view to offering a high level of education and carrying out research in science, engineering, and architecture in a thematic pattern. IZTECH is the only institute of technology in the country and the medium of instruction is English in all the programmes offered, which means all educational and research activities conform to international norms. The Institute is located on  Urla surrounded with the  natural beauties on the coastline of the Aegean Sea. The Technology Development Zone is active with nearly 150 firms within the campus.
