About Hanyang University

Hanyang University traces its roots back to 1939 when the DongA Engineering Institute was established, amidst the turbulence of Korea's history. Dr. Lyun-Joon Kim, a patriot and visionary, founded this institute with the aim of advancing his oppressed country through engineering education and technological training. By 1948, Dr. Kim had transformed his modest institute into the nation's first private university, complete with an engineering department. Later, in 1959, the institute evolved into Hanyang University, offering a comprehensive range of academic disciplines.

Expanding its reach, Hanyang University inaugurated its second campus in Ansan, GyeongGi Province, in 1979. Ansan, situated within one of Korea's largest industrial complexes, provided an ideal setting for the university's expansion. Presently, Hanyang University boasts two campuses offering a plethora of undergraduate and graduate programs. Moreover, the main Seoul Campus houses various institutions including Hanyang Women's University, Hanyang International Hospital, Hanyang Elementary School, Hanyang Cyber University, and Hanyang Subway Station.
